Conor Mahoney 29th March 2018 This event has closed

Story

During the back end of September 2017, my Step mum was diagnosed with a rare, aggressive form of cancer. Totally unaware of how little time she had left, the situation worsened sooner than we all anticipated, and the turn of 2018 brought continuous bad news, spending most of her time in hospital, continuously ‘not knowing’. Unfortunately, things rapidly turned for the worse and Kae came to the end of her fight in the early hours of Tuesday 27th March 2018, only 44 years young. Yes, only 44! Having spent the past week or so in one of many Kirkwood Hospice facilities, the massive amount of work and effort which each and every individual working for the foundation put in was outstanding and overwhelming. Knowing Kae was looked after and cared for very, very well for each and every one of her last days is humbling and heartwarming despite the tragic turn of events during her last weeks/ months with us. As a result of the care she received, it has encouraged us to try and donate as much money as humanly possible, so we will be walking from the John Smith stadium (Huddersfield), to the Etihad (Manchester) on the 5th May in order to raise a bit of money which is honestly the least I feel we can do. The care put into the patients admitted into their campuses will be the best some of the best on offer, is just so so overwhelming! Anything from a penny to a pound is so greatly appreciated and I can guarantee that this money will goto good use!
